Polymer nanoparticle-based cancer therapeutics: from concept to clinic

Abstract

Nanoparticle-based therapeutics contg. either small mol. anti-cancer agents (IT-101; entered Phase II) or siRNA (CALAA-01; in Phase I) are described. The key component in each nanoparticle is a cyclodextrin-contg. polymer that endows it with multifunctional behavior. Relationships between nanoparticle design and function in animal models are illustrated. Results from clin. trials are presented so show how nanoparticle-based therapeutics can provide interesting behavior in humans.
