So many inquiries concerning California earthquake risk and protection now reach me that I can no longer reply individually to each. These notes cover the points most often raised. This is not an official statement of the California Institute of Technology or its Seismological Laboratory. I believe that most seismologists, here and elsewhere, would agree except in details; but the personal responsibility for these pages is mine.
