Solvent dynamics and vibrational effects in electron transfer reactions
Abstract
Intramolecular vibrational effects can modify considerably the effect of solvent dynamics on the rates of electron transfer reactions, even for a fixed free energy barrier. Results of a previous paper by the authors are applied in an approximate way to provide a simplified formula for the reaction rate. The formula includes these effects and reduces to a well-known one of Kramers under a appropriate conditions and when, in addition, vibrational effects are absent.
