Abstract

A renewed interest in catamaran-type vehicles has emerged in the past decade in connection with the development of unconventional water crafts. This interest has been stimulated by the main advantages that this type of unconventional vehicles may be able to offer, namely, 1. a large, useful deck area (compared with that of conventional ships), 2. a favorable roll stability for various ocean tasks, 3. good seaworthiness characteristics in rough seas, especially when the waterplane area can be made small.
