Simultaneous homogeneous nucleation and aerosol growth

  • 1. ROR icon California Institute of Technology

Abstract

A growing aerosol influences homogeneous nucleation rates by changing the vapor concentration around the particles. A theoretical analysis is undertaken to determine the nucleation rates in the presence of particles ranging from the free-molecular to the continuum regime. The results are combined with particle growth laws to predict the time, evolution of the aerosol produced by a condensing vapor.
