The Synthesis of Ribosomes in E. coli. II. Analysis of the Kinetics of Tracer Incorporation in Growing Cells

Abstract
Equations are derived representing the flow of radioactive tracer in a sequence of reactions. The conditions under which the equations are applicable are defined. A function ϕ, representing the newly synthesized fraction is defined, and its use in the analysis of precursor-product relationships is discussed.
