Water Binding in Regular Copolyoxamide Membranes

Abstract

The development of a new class of regular copolyoxamides has been reported recently from this laboratory. The characteristic structural feature of these materials is the regular alternation of oxamide and normal amide units in the chain backbone (I). We have prepared a rather large number of regular copolyoxamides, many of which have shown useful membrane or complexation properties. The present paper deals with membrane applications of the regular copolyoxamides, with particular emphasis on the significance of water-polymer interactions.
