Abstract

The MINOS experiment has been taking data since May 2005, and by February 2006 it had collected 1.27×10^(20) protons on target. A total of charged current events were observed in the Far Detector. Analysis of these data shows consistency with the hypothesis of ν_μ neutrino oscillations, with |Δm^(2)_(23)| = 2.74^(+0.44)_(-0.26)× 10^(-3) eV^2 and sin^(2)(2θ_(23))>0.87 (68% C.L.).
