CO(2→1) / CO(1→0) observations of luminous infrared galaxies

  • 1. ROR icon California Institute of Technology

Abstract

CO(2→1) spectra of several luminous infrared galaxies have been obtained with the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory (CSO). For those galaxies distant enough to be unresolved with the CSO beam, we have compared the CO(2→1) profile with the corresponding, unresolved CO(1→0) profile in order to investigate the contribution of optically thin CO to the total CO emission.
