Tribute to Professor Giorgio Giacomelli

Giorgio Giacomelli, a renowned experimental physicist and professor at the University of Bologna, died on Jan 31, 2014. A particle physicist with very broad interests, Giorgio recognized very early the potential richness of an emerging field at the interface of astrophysics and particle physics. Giorgio was a pioneer in creating the field of astroparticle physics and became one of the Founding Editors of Astroparticle Physics journal.
