Earthquakes

Abstract

The causes of earthquakes as well as the relation between the depthe of the focus of an earthquake of a given energy and the damage caused by it to the earth's surface are discussed summarily. The occurence of earthquakes in certain definite belts and their geographic location is described, and the importance of seismological research is stressed.
