Oxygen-17 and Carbon-13 NMR Study of N-Methylsydnone and Related Structures

Abstract

Oxygen-17 and carbon-13 chemical shifts indicate that protonation of N-methylsydnone and N-methylsydnonimine ring systems takes place at the exocyclic moiety, -O^θ and -NH^θ, respectively. The data, combined with those from earlier in vestigations by means of nitrogen NMR, also shows that the free sydnonimine rearranges into N-methyl-N-eyanomethyl-N-nitrosoamine. A number of carbon-proton and carbon-nitrogen coupling constants are reported for the systems examined.
