An Optimal Filter Approach to Identification in Structural Dynamics
Creators
Abstract
An optimal filter approach to the identification of structural models from earthquake response data is investigated. This time-domain approach exhibits several promising advantages for this application. Examples are presented using a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) linear model and simulated data to demonstrate the capabilities of the method. This model is used also to identify parameters of the fundamental mode of a building from earthquake records, in the presence of noise and nonlinearities in the response.
