Water Tunnel Tests on NACA-66 (Modified) and YS-920 Foil Sections with and without Surface Roughness

Abstract

Lift, drag and pitching moment data in fully wetted and cavitating flow are presented for the NACA-66 (Modified) and YS-920 sections. Tests were performed with added surface roughness of differing amounts in addition to the smooth surfaces of the sections. Boundary layer flow visualization with oil-pigment paint application was also attempted for both surface conditions.

These data were taken in the two-dimensional working section of the GALCIT* High Speed Water Tunnel.

Funding

This work was performed for the U.S. Navy under Contract No. N00167-81-C-0083 during the period 21 October 1981 to 22 December 1981.
