Recent progress and problems in the geometrical representation of conformal anomalies

Abstract

We review some current work on conformal anomalies in general dimension from the geometrical point of view, with emphasis on open "constrained dynamics" problems that it raises. Some remarks in the same vein are also made about D = 11 supergravity and open "quantum gravity" problems.
